When I get asked what our style of photography is I usually sum it up as a mix of cinematic portraits and excellent documentary. The truth is it goes well beyond this.

When it comes to the cinematic portraits, what we really focus on is telling your story in an impactful way. Conveying your personalities, emotions, and relationship through our lens. Most of these portraits we will give our couples direction on posing but keep things natural and organic as possible. These types of portraits make the best wall art due to having a strong sentimental presence as well as being able to tell your entire story in a single image.

On the other side of our style is documentary. This style is reserved for the reception and other parts of the wedding day where we want to be a fly on the wall to capture your story. Make no mistake however, with the way we shoot we often get up close to document parts of the day to give the feeling of actually being there in the moment.

Something that sets us apart from other photographers is our understanding and use of lighting equipment. Having received photography education including the use of off camera flash and the sheer amount of practice with it, we have the ability to get marvelous images even in the darkest of venues. Natural light is often used by us, however sometimes the sun is too harsh, the venue too dark inside, or maybe its a dark and overcast day. All these things we have answers for with our knowledge of flash photography. Maybe our couple really wanted an amazing sunset portrait but its a stormy day and no sun, well no problem. We can set lighting up to recreate the look of that sunset our couple wanted.

The final piece to our style would be our understanding of photo editing and its possibilities. Maybe during family formals we have a few people blink. This isn’t an issue at all since we take multiple images knowing that we may have to swap heads from one photo to the next so that everyone’s eyes are open. Another example would be replacing the sky for that sunset our couple missed out on or maybe a groomsmen lost their boutonniere, we can clone one and add it to the photos where he is missing it. These are just some examples of what we can do for our couples to give them the best possible images.

Editing Process

When it comes to editing images, tonal and color correction are applied to every image we are delivering to our clients. This includes things such as exposure adjustments, white balance adjustments, noise reduction, sharpening, highlight and shadow adjustments and more. From there, every image that will be in your wedding album as well as any photos that will become wall art get an even deeper level of editing. Some of these things include, skin retouching, enhancing eyes, removing unwanted objects from the background like exit signs or other distractions, head swapping, sky replacing and many other enhancements.
